The Norwayne Boxing Gym was founded in 2015 with the mission of developing youth into successful adults by way of academic support, physical activity, leadership training, and community involvement.
The Norwayne Neighborhood
As U.S. involvement in World War II escalated and automotive plants began manufacturing warplanes and tanks in 1942, the U.S. National Housing Agency began construction of the Norwayne subdivision as a means to house laborers and their families.
Originally intended to be temporary housing, Norwayne is now experiencing a renewal due to the boxing gym and other neighborhood initiatives.
Largely due to its role in supporting the country during WWII, Norwayne was recognized on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. Despite many challenges over the decades, residents of Norwayne are hardworking people with can-do attitudes. This is reflected in the pride of the Norwayne Boxing Gym.
